Unaccepted courses for California nurse continuing education

Be aware that not all courses are accepted for California nurse CEUs. Courses on self-improvement, weight loss, yoga, investments, job interviews and more are not considered to meet California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) requirements. Ensure the courses you choose meet the California BRN criteria to avoid complications during license renewal.

Who is exempt from California CEUs for license renewal

Some nursing professionals may be exempt from CEU requirements. Licensees are exempt from CE requirements during the first two years immediately following initial licensure. This is with the exception of an Implicit Bias training requirement. Check if you fall under any exemption categories, such as newly licensed RNs or those with specific certifications, to determine your eligibility.
